The Relationship of Married Women¡¯s Sexuality and Their Level of Psychological Happiness: Comparison of secually active married women and sexless married women

|
The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of married women¡¯s sexuality and their level of psychological happiness. The subjects were 330 sexually active and 337 sexless married women. The results showed that there were significant differences in the levels of sexual knowledge, sexual attitude, sexual coping behavior, sexual satisfaction, psychological happiness between the two groups but no differences in the moral sexual attitude and the controlling type of sexual coping behavior. The results of multiple regression analysis indicated that the psychological happiness of both groups was not influenced by the sexual knowledge, while the psychological happiness of sexually active women was influenced by the rational sexual attitude and that of sexless married women was influenced by the traditional, moral and rational sexual attitude. Finally, the moderating effects of volunteer activity and cultural course taking were found for sexless women but not for sexually active women.
